Burton Regatta 2026

Whether its your first time to the Regatta, or even your first time to Burton upon Trent, this event should definitely be in your calendar.

This year will be the 160th Burton Regatta!

First established in 1865, the Burton Regatta and Burton Head is brought to you by the

Burton Regatta Association

Supported by Trent Rowing Club and Burton Leander Rowing Club.

The traditional and highly competitive "Oxford v Cambridge" two abreast type boat racing runs throughout the two day event, with competitors and supporters enjoying the beautiful River Trent running through Burton upon Trent's unspoilt Regatta Meadows.

The entry fee is £12 per seat. Entries are made through BROE.

Entries close at 12:00 noon on Saturday 4th July 2026.

The draw will take place at 13:00 on Saturday 4th July 2026.

Burton Regatta 2026

The traditional and highly competitive "Oxford v Cambridge" two abreast type boat racing runs throughout the two day event, with competitors and supporters enjoying the beautiful River Trent running through Burton upon Trent's unspoilt Regatta Meadows.

Saturday offers a course length of 1,100 metres racing from the Leicester Line railway bridge to a point some 80 metres upstream of the Ferry footbridge.

Crews return to Burton Sprint the following day, an exciting short distance event racing over 700 metres.  The Sprint is held on the finishing straight of the Burton Regatta course, with crews racing past the Regatta Enclosure to the cheers of their supporters. 

Burton Regatta Course

Burton Regatta is held on the Regatta Meadows, Burton on Trent.

Entry is free for spectators. 

Car parking on site is charged at £3 per day, payable on arrival.

Vehicle Access Access is via Watson Street, Burton on Trent, DE14 3AH

Pedestrian Access The site can be accessed from Watson Street, The Ferry Bridge, or by the riverside paths.

Getting to Burton Regatta

The entry fee for competitors is £12 per seat.  Car parking is charged at £3 per day. Free camping facilities are available.

Facilities including toilets, showers food and refreshments are available on site. On Saturday evening, we will be holding a Regatta Party, with open bar, food and a live band. We hope that you will join us.

Staggered Start

  • The competition will be held at the Regatta Meadows, Burton on Trent.

  • Entries Close at 12.00 noon on Saturday 4th July 2026

  • No doubling of any kind allowed within a division, including equipment

  • Senior events can be sub-classified by event bands based on ranking points. The aim will be for no less than 4 and no more than 8 per band, but racing against an appropriate ranking will take priority. The winner of each band will receive a tankard.

  • Masters crews with no opposition, and where an event cannot be formed through a handicap, will be moved to Senior into a band of appropriate ranking index unless they specify otherwise.

  • Juniors of J15 and above without opposition and unable to move up will be moved to Senior into a band of appropriate ranking index unless they specify otherwise.

  • J11 events are offered on Sunday only.

  • Events with over 8 entries will be further split into bands depending on their ranking index.
