Boston Head - 21 January 2007

TRENT Rowing Club continued their winter season success at the weekend.

Ignoring the cold weather and the occasional spells of hail Trent travelled to Boston to compete over a 3000m course on the River .

The first division saw all Trent’s entrants racing in singles with strong performances from all who raced. Chris Maurice fought hard in the time trial event but unfortunately could not top his event of Mens Senior 4 Sculls.

Gemma Barker showed her worth, racing in Womens Junior 15 Sculls, managing to complete the course with a time faster than some quads.

Almost straight away competitors were out on the water for the start of the second division.

It was in this division that Trent’s doubles excelled. Rob and Chris Arnold proved they were on the pace in Mens Senior 2 Double Sculls. Completing the course in 9mins 47secs they won the event comfortably also achieving the fastest time of the day for doubles.

Nick Edge and Robert Gipson, competing in the same event, sculled strongly finishing with the fifth fastest double time.

Gemma Barker returned in the second division teaming up with 16 year old Holly Brearley from Derby Rowing Club. Entered in the higher status of Womens Novice Sculls the newly combined duo fought off other crews finishing with a time of 11mins 53secs. This time saw them winning the senior event comfortably.
