The inanugural Burton Head was held in 2007 after its unfortunate cancellation in 2006 due to flood. The Burton Head is held over 3500m, downstream, on the river Trent. The course starts by the Riverside Hotel in Branston, progresses past Draklow Power Station and Branston Gold club, finally finishing at the Burton Regatta finish line. The Burton Head is organised and hosted by both Burton Leander RC and Trent RC. Unlike the regatta, which is held 1km upstream of the boathouses on the Regatta Meadows, the head is run from the rowing clubs boathouses.
